Job summary
The Red Hat Global Support Services (GSS) team is seeking an Technical Support Engineering Internship to join us in Pune. The Global Support Services team focuses on resolving issues for enterprise customers by providing high-level technical support and sustaining engineering services to maximize up-time and reduce IT costs. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to receive on-the-job training with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and related technologies like virtualization, storage, clustering, cloud, satellite, etc. This position has the potential to convert to a full-time role at the end of the internship. Come prepared to work alongside some of the brightest engineers in the open source industry. 
Primary job responsibilities
  • Gather information for each bug and provide analysis to fully understand the issue
  • Propose and discuss fixes or workarounds and provide advice to educate customers
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and support management teams to prioritize customer requests
  • Incorporate your findings to Red Hat's knowledge base
  • Support Red Hat's global customers on technical issues through phone, chat, or remote access tools during the customer's business hours
Required skills
  • Understanding of Linux, UNIX, and open source
  • Theoretical knowledge of networking, UNIX-like services, and concepts
  • Analytical and reasoning skills
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Motivated but comfortable working with a team 
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas in a user-friendly way
  • Willingness to work in shifts and handle phone calls when needed
  • Candidates who have done a project on Linux or who are currently contributing to open source projects are preferred
